Job Description

A Team Staffing, Southern California's locally-based staffing firm specializing in the title, escrow, mortgage and real estate industries, has an immediate opportunity for an Accounting Assistant, to work for a real estate company in Woodland Hills, CA.

The Accounting Assistant will provide support to the Purchasing Manager and Staff Accountant and be responsible for a variety of routine and non-routine including purchasing, contract maintenance, invoice and billing functions related to the new home building developments projects and the different phases of construction.

Responsibilities and Duties as an Accounting Assistant:

  • Review of vendor contracts and maintaining and updating the systems
  • Reconcile the financial information between the sales system, financial reporting system, and escrow closing documents
  • Review and reconcile external and internal escrow closing documentation and sales journal entries
  • Prepare and enter other journal entries as required
  • Review sales files to assure compliance with department’s SOX procedures, as well as resolving any deficiencies
  • Complete check deposits and associated journal entries
  • Collaborate on accounting deficiencies and ensure sales transactions are completed within strict deadlines
  • Reporting and other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Required Skills and Experience for an Accounting Assistant:

  • 2-5 years of accounting experience including accounts receivable and bank reconciliation in a busy, high volume accounting department required
  • Strong computer skills: Excel proficiency, Vlookup, Pivot Tables, Formulas, Formatting
  • Knowledge of accounting software (i.e. Yardi or Quickbooks), or related programs desired
  • Real estate or related industry accounting experience preferred
  • HS Diploma required. AA or BA in Accounting preferred
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy and efficiency when performing data entry tasks
